~each of my mornings~
~have found me~
~equal to the task~
~I know this because~
~I’m alive~
~trust is an issue~
~of faith~
~& cannot be misplaced~
~if invested & expected~
~first in & of oneself~
~if you’re going around the world~
~& you’re over halfway~
~you’re closer to home than if you went back~
~caught myself singing~
~& the praying mantis listening~
~thankful that gods have a sense of humor~
~& insects no predisposition to what is cool~
~there is death in the music of the fool~
~having wept with my children & laughed uproariously~
~I know life to be kind~
~challenging & ever engaging~
~we keep on keepin’ on~
~never despair of hope~
~faith in each other~
~the child who goes to bed hungry~
~knows full well what to expect of morning~
~that the pain is deeper~
~yet easier to abide~
~ you never know what you’re gonna do
when the shithouse goes up in flames
‘til the fire bites you on the ass ~
~a society that condones the death of children
to convenience & war is lost~
~they have taken away so many of our rights~we don’t know when we’re wrong until they have us in manacles~that uncertainty is the goal~
