~it is not violence~
~in & of itself~
~that so terrifies us~
~but the threat~
~of impending violence~
~the unknown~
~how we will react~


~that spider thing~
~one brain~
~eight legs~
~eight eyes~
~night horses~


~seems that never~
~the saying of it~
~is a guarantee~
~of its occurrence~


~nearly enough~
~to make a poor boy sing~
